Writing is hard..probably the hardest exercise to undertake. And yet the most rewarding. Were I to visualize writing, then I'd circle back to that scene from a Harry Potter film where Albus Dumbledore pulls out a memory to view it into a Pensieve. The only difference being, the silver strand representing a memory in the film, is in this case, a thought/an idea waiting to happen. The pensieve also represents a book where you put all your thoughts together and view the ultimate results as a book.
I have undertaken the writing of a story., I won't be ambitious and state its a book as then I am setting impossible standards. I'd rather just state it's a story that is leading me on to an end. And whether it will be, a book or a mere few pages of writing, is still left to be seen.
What got me started was a constant feeling of urgency I experienced over a past few weeks. Completely unrelated to anything and everything I was doing in my life. Now I am a girl with instincts and signs. A small revision revealed that suddenly I was surrounded by phrases and people asking me or talking about my writing and my plans to write ahead. If I had to do a finger count, the tops clock in at 7. That number in a space of 3 days is a sign.Sounds mushy or too romantic a view of life? Well, no harm done as long as its all good and works to advantage. So I have embarked on my journey to writer-dom! :D It's a little scary and yet exciting.
And thankfully the nagging sense of urgency stopped ever since I have picked up the pen, or to specify my BlackBerry, on my story. My BlackBerry is where I am penning it down. Makes it easier to work on the go minus a laptop or netbook.
However, writing is proving to be a mammoth task. Especially for someone like myself who is too easily distracted. But then I am also known to be determined (thank god, whew!). And largely, I have to thank @Berkun who had some practical advice for all aspiring writers. His best advice? Write something, anything, everyday. Trust me, if you are planning to write and need a little shove, then you better visit his online world here :) Yes I love you too. You are welcome :)
I have written an entire chapter in 3 days thanks to him :O . Yup, even I can't believe it! *pat on the back* :)
Anyways, so I will b sharing my work with you in the future sometime soon (hopefully) for feedback :) Until then keep the intelligence dripping.
The long road home has well and truly begun! :)
